Jagex

Jagex is a British video game developer and publisher based at the St Jame’s Centre in Cambridge, England. The company is best known for developing and publishing the massively multiplayer online role-playing game RuneScape.

Jagex was founded in 2001 by Andrew Gower and Paul Gower, brothers who had previously created games independently under the name Jagex Ltd. The company’s first major release was DeviousMUD, which was later renamed to RuneScape after a trademark dispute. RuneScape quickly gained popularity, becoming one of the most popular MMORPGs of all time. Jagex has since released several other games, including the mobile spin-off Old School RuneScape.

In recent years, Jagex has been acquired by Chinese company ZhongJi Holding, and has undergone massive changes in leadership. However, the company continues to develop and release new content for its games, with plans to expand its portfolio in the future. Jagex is one of the few remaining independent game developers and publishers in the UK, and continues to be a major player in the video game industry.
